Twitch is a live streaming service for gaming. It has grown tremendously over the years.
Kids, teens, and adults are joining Twitch to either play games live in front of an audience, or watch others play.
So of course the biggest e-commerce giant, Amazon noticed Twitch and partnered up!
As one of the perks for Amazon Prime members, they allowed members to join Twitch without ads.
That’s right, the ads were removed. However, Twitch has rethought the idea of removing ads for Prime members.
Since many Twitch members make a living on the platform with large audiences, through, you guessed it, advertising. “Advertising is an important source of support for the creators who make Twitch possible,” said Twitch, the company. “This change will strengthen and expand that advertising opportunity for creators so they can get more support from their viewers for doing what they love.”
Users are still able to get an ad-free experience on Twitch by subscribing to Twitch Turbo. However, for Prime members, this will end by October 15, 2018.
Twitch still wants Prime users to know they are receiving a ton of goodies. They include:
- Monthly channel subscriptions
- Free games
- In-Game Loot for Fortnite, PUBG, Hearthstone, etc.
