Google Analytics 4, whether we like it or not, it is coming. Those of us who enjoy Universal Analytics will have to quickly learn how to enjoy GA4.

As many marketers have been migrating over to the new platform, they are noticing a particular metric is missing. It would typically be found in the audience insights section of Google Analytics or Universal Analytics. You all want to know how to find bounce rate on Google Analytics 4.

If you look at that section in GA4, you will find there is a metric called “average engagement time” which loosely can equate to “average session duration.” However, “bounce rate” which was always there, has disappeared.

What is Bounce Rate?

Bounce rate is defined as “Bounce rate is single-page sessions divided by all sessions, or the percentage of all sessions on your site in which users viewed only a single page and triggered only a single request to the Analytics server” according to Google Analytics Help.

In talking with other marketers, many believe this metric is simply gone. Some even went as far as saying it is better off this way. The only issue is, many do not share this same sentiment. They want to see the bounce rate as it is an integral part of decision making for a website.
