Chris Beresford-Hill Joins BBDO as Creative Director for the Americas, Shifting Ogilvy’s Leadership Dynamics

Chris Beresford-Hill

Chris Beresford-Hill, the president of Ogilvy North America, is set to depart from WPP group agency after a two-year tenure to join Omnicom’s BBDO as the Creative Director for the Americas, effective early 2024. This move marks Beresford-Hill’s return to Omnicom and BBDO, where he previously served as Executive Creative Director and Executive Vice President, working on notable accounts such as Foot Locker, Twix, and HBO. Beresford-Hill had joined Ogilvy in 2021 from TBWAChiatDay New York, where he held the position of Creative Director for just over four years.

In his new role, Beresford-Hill will collaborate with Nancy Reyes, the CEO of BBDO for the Americas, who assumed the position in October, having previously served as the CEO of TBWA-ChiatDay New York. The reunion of Beresford-Hill and Reyes, who have worked together at TBWA and Omnicom’s Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, is seen as a significant development for BBDO’s future, according to David Lubars, the Creative Director of BBDO Worldwide.

The role of Chief Creative Officer Americas will be assumed by Luiz Sanches, who will also continue as the President of Almap BBDO and oversee key multinational clients for BBDO. In a statement, Beresford-Hill expressed his gratitude for returning to BBDO, describing it as a place he truly loves, and expressed appreciation for the people at Ogilvy who contributed to his professional growth.

Ogilvy officially announced Beresford-Hill’s departure in an internal note signed by Devika Bulchandani, the Global CEO, and Liz Taylor, Global Creative Director.
